Artist Bio

Francisco Donoso (b. 1988) was born in Quito, Ecuador and grew up in Miami, Florida. After attending New World School of the Arts, he received his BFA in Painting & Drawing from Purchase College. In 2012 he was a fellow at the New York Center for Art and Media Studies and in 2013 a Van Lier Fellow at Wave Hill in The Bronx. In 2014 he was an Artist in Residence at Stony Brook University and named a Hot Picks artist by Smack Mellon in 2014 and 2018. In 2017 and 2019, he participated in Race Forward’s Racial Equity in the Arts Innovation Lab, and in 2018 he participated in the Artist in the Marketplace program at The Bronx Museum, and was commissioned by The New York Community Trust to create a permanent installation in their headquarters in NYC. Francisco has exhibited throughout NYC at El Museo del Barrio, E.Tay Gallery, Latchkey Gallery, Chashama, John Jay College, Wave Hill, La Bodega Gallery, Bronx Art Space, Electropositive Space, Material for the Arts, the Andrew Freedman Home, the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance and Groundswell amongst others, in Berlin at Emerson Gallery, the University of Nevada in Las Vegas at Believer Festival, and continues to work and exhibit in NYC. He is also the Program Coordinator for the Parsons Scholars Program, where he explores the intersections of art, education and social justice.
