NO LONGER EMPTY | Bronx Based Teen CALL FOR ART – Deadline Approaching March 27
No Longer Empty is currently hosting a Teen Bronx-based Call for Art for our program, Teens Curate Teens (TCT). In collaboration with ArtsConnection, TCT provides teen artists with an opportunity to exhibit alongside professional artists in our upcoming exhibition in the Old Bronx Borough Courthouse.
Constructed in 1906 and actively used until 1977, the Old Bronx Borough Courthouse has remained empty for over 30 years. On April 23, it will open to the public to host a contemporary art exhibition called “When You Cut Into the Present, The Future Leaks Out”. Teen artists are asked to respond to this theme to submit artwork and proposals by the March 27th deadline.
ELIGIBILITY: We strongly encourage high school students who either live or attend school in the Bronx to apply and are also accepting applications from all NYC public high school students.
THEMES: We are looking for work by Teens that responds to the space- its past and possible future. We are looking for the Bronx teens’ voices to be strong in the heart of this exhibition. Artwork can be inspired by ideas coming from the building- about the Architecture, Justice and the legal system, the History and Future of the Bronx.
EXHIBITION: ALL SUBMISSIONS WILL BE PHOTOGRAPHED AND EXHIBITED IN AN ONLINE GALLERY. 20 artworks will be selected to be shown in a curated group exhibition alongside professional contemporary artists working with the same themes.
