The Position

DreamYard’s Art Center Teaching Artists are a group of highly skilled artists and educators who are committed improving public education through collaboration and creativity. They work collaboratively to provide after-school programming to middle and high school students.

Qualifications

Expertise in Digital Media & technology exhibited through an educational degree and/or professional accomplishments

Minimum two years teaching a Digital Media and/or other arts discipline in a school and/or community-based setting.

Bachelor’s degree and/or Masters degree in related area.

The ideal DreamYard TA is

Creative: Brings innovation, passion and past experience to create a vibrant learning community.

Collaborative: Flexible and open to others’ ideas and knowledge; proactive, direct and sensitive communicator.

Reflective: Holds high expectations for students’ achievement and is thoughtful about the process in which they get there; Holds high expectations for self as instructor, is thoughtful about his or her effectiveness as an educator, and is committed to ongoing improvement.

Professional: Punctual to all DY commitments. Completes tasks within the time allotted and pro-actively communicates challenges that may impact accomplishing duties.

Time Commitment

Thursdays, 3:30-6pm (Oct 18th – the first week in May)

TAs are also required to attend PD dates for social justice pedagogy training. They fall on Tuesdays, between 11:30-2:30pm (October 25th, December 6th, February 7th, March 7th, May 16th)

The organization believes that the arts are a necessary part of developing those assets to their greatest potential.
