(Bronx – July 23, 2015) Bronx Council on the Arts invites Bronx-based individual artists and nonprofit organizations to apply for 2016 project funding through the Artist for Community Grant, Arts Fund, and Community Arts Grant. Each grant program supports projects and activities between January 1st and December 31, 2016 that enable Bronx communities to experience and engage with the arts. Grants range from $1,000 to $5,000. 2016 applications and grant guidelines are available at www.Bronxarts.org/Grants.asp.

Artist for Community (AFC): Bronx-based individual artists are invited to apply for commissioning support in the amount of $2,500 for the creation of new work in a community setting. AFC is designed to increase support for local artist-initiated activities and to highlight the role of artists as important members of the community. Four individual artists are selected each year to receive the Artists for Community award. Applications close Thursday, October 15, 2015.

Arts Fund: Bronx-based professional and pre-professional artists, artist collectives and Bronx-based 501c3 organizations with an organizational budget below $100,000 are invited to apply for grants of up to $5,000 for high-quality arts projects that contribute to the cultural life of the borough. In 2015, Arts Fund distributed $70,000 to 31 artists and organizations. Applications close Thursday, October 22, 2015.

Community Arts Grant (CAG): Bronx-based nonprofit organizations and individual artists working through a fiscal sponsor or in partnership with Bronx-based nonprofit organizations are invited to apply for grants of up to $5,000 for community-based arts projects. CAG aims to contribute to the cultural life of the borough through its support of community-based, high-quality arts projects in all disciplines, genres, and styles. Local nonprofit organizations may apply directly to this program; individual artists must apply with or through a community-based nonprofit organization. In 2015, Community Arts Grant distributed $73,900 to 22 Bronx artists and organizations. Applications close Thursday, October 29, 2015.

Eligibility: All organizations must be Bronx-based and cannot be funded by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs or New York State Council on the Arts. All applicants must be Bronx residents with proof of residency. Proof of residency includes: NYS DMV Driver’s license, NYS DMV Photo ID or current utility bill with artist’s name.
