Asphalt Art Activation: Spring 2016
To celebrate the new Citi Bike station in Williamsburg, Brooklyn located at Roebling Street and North 4th Street, DOT Bike Share and DOT Art have teamed up to solicit artists to present an asphalt art installation for June 2016. The stations are often surrounded by underutilized asphalt street spaces that provide imaginative havens for designers and public artists.
Artists are encouraged to submit designs that can be painted on the asphalt using stencils. The installation timeline will take place over the course of one week, where artists will be responsible for the complete transformation of the 3,475 square foot space! $7,500 will be awarded to the selected proposal. The application deadline is Friday, April 22, 2016.
