May 16 | Jeniva Quinones – ‘Part of Me’ Group exhibition

Jeniva Quinones presents ‘Part Of Me’ a visual art exhibition curated in connection with the release of her first poetry chapbook ‘PART OF ME DIED WITH YOU.’

The exhibition features photography, painting, and illustration along with a short poetry reading from ‘PART OF ME DIED WITH YOU’. The works are all different yet share a commonality in the personal and subjective experiences of each artist.

The poetry in Jeniva Quinones’s book ‘PART OF ME DIED WITH YOU’ mainly details the pain of losing a love you never truly had, while approaching themes of death and mental illness. She will also be showing photos from her series ‘A Bronx Tale’ which speak to a similar kind of failed relationship.

Shaira Chaer‘s photo series, titled “where i end and you begin”, attempts to portray the interconnectedness between human beings, especially those in intimate relationships, through the usage of multi-exposure shots.

“hands that work with me” is a series by Luis Gonzalez that pushes to capture the vulnerability, beauty and spirit of various working hands and what they do.

The GOREgeous Series is Natalie Lucre way of illustrating a woman’s scorn in love lost. Her obsession for horror and morbid things always finds its way into her work. Growing up on Barbie and Micheal Meyers warp in her mind to show serial cuteness.

Inspired by the notion of love, Misa uses painting as a medium to portray how he views the opposite sex. Furthermore, he so uses his experience growing up in the inner city to detail the beauty and the cracks of New York City.

Ruddy Obscure will be taking Inspiration from former Journals, Letters, Notes and Photographs to explore and Interpret themes such as Love, Loss, Lust, and Life in his 5 piece painting series titled “Incertidumbre”.

Experimenting with the mediums of photography and video, Jesse Ovalles presents a series of self portrait cinemagraphs that personify the artist’s internal struggles between right and wrong. The works also tackle issues of societal pressures that trigger these struggles.

Kim Vega is a 23 year old Illustrator from the Bronx. She has developed a sense of humor for drawing pun related cartoons and comics. Aside from humor, Kim also draws spontaneous yet story driven art.

Multi Media artist YAWES creates stories using audio and visuals inspired by his native city of New York and his motherland of the Dominican Republic that evoke the nostalgia of youth while looking toward the unknown and unconquered land of tomorrow.
