Born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx, Duane Bailey-Castro specializes in urban landscape and travel photography.

His main focus for over 10 years has been the fifteen Harlem River Bridges that span New York City’s Harlem River. His photography project examines these spans both as structures and symbols revealing what some do not see: the surprising beauty of the Bronx and the Upper Manhattan landscape and their relationship to these fascinating bridges. His photographs celebrate a part of New York City landscape that has long been overlooked and under-resourced.

He also enjoys traveling, especially to places that are off the beaten path, to explore and photograph compelling subjects. Some of the many countries he has visited are Bolivia, Cuba, Greenland, India, and Malaysia.

His work has been exhibited at the Bronx Children’s Museum, the Longwood Art Gallery at Hostos, the New York Public Library, Montefiore Medical Center, the Bronx Documentary Center, and the Bronx Historical Society. He is the recipient of a 2020 Bronx Recognizes Its Own (BRIO) grant and a 2019 Community Arts Grant from the Bronx Council on the Arts.
