Jonathan Atkin, produces powerful aerial photography, for the cruise ship, cargo and workboat sectors of the maritime community. Adamant about bringing hands-on expertise to his clients needs, Captain Jonathan earned his 100 ton Masters license.

Since graduate school and professionally for 25 years, Jonathan has photographed dance artists for their media visibility and marketing. His work has broken glass ceilings regularly in how dance artists of color are featured and photographed. Publications include Smithsonian Magazine and The New York Times.

Fusing his love for historic ships and dance, Atkin created a unique celebration of dancers aboard historic vessels, as the HEROPROJECT.US bringing the talents of world class dance artists aboard historic ships, creating a photographic duet between the dancers and the organic magic of a “legacy” vessel. His work with world re-knowned dance artist Desmond Richardson aboard the iconic SS United States currently in Philadelphia has received critical media notice. Two exhibitions have been mounted, one on an historic ship and a more formal showing. Public comments include awe, respect and statements that the work is “life changing.”
