Artist Bio

Danny Ramon Peralta is a New York City born visual artist of Dominican descent. As a documentary photographer he attempts to use the camera as a tool to change negative perceptions about his community. He uses his access to technology and people to create pieces that interact with the audience as well as present personal points of view. Danny lives a student/teacher teacher/student philosophy as a way to connect people for the greater good.

A graduate of the New York University Steinhardt School of Education, Peralta also received a Jocelyn Benzakin Fellowship in Photojournalism from the International Center of Photography October 2005 – June 2007. He is also a recipient of the Howard Chapnick Award for the creation of NYC Bridge Project, a photography collective using storytelling to connect communities of color throughout New York City through workshops & exhibitions.

Danny Peralta is the current director of Arts & Education at THE POINT Community Development Corporation which is dedicated to youth development and the cultural and economic revitalization of the Hunts Point section of the South Bronx.
