Samantha Alvarez is a multimedia artist who lives in the Bronx, New York. She is also a Youth Media Instructor at Downtown Community Television Center’s youth media program. Samantha is currently working with teens who are using film to foster positive change, with a special focus on political and social activism. She holds an Associate Degree in Digital Animation from CUNY Hostos Community College. Samantha is constantly experimenting with various mediums such as painting, film and animation. She also has a diverse background of roles in film production including Director, Assistant Director, Cinematographer and Animator.
Samantha’s works mainly focus on mental health awareness. She has worked on several films such as Voz del Azul, a mixed media documentary about her own path to self awareness and overcoming depression, and worked as the animator for Harlem Legacy, a short documentary on two leaders of a Harlem debate team.
She is currently focusing on drawing and painting larger-scale works, as well as working on her own independent films.
