Artist Bio

Livia’s artwork, a marriage of drawings, photography and graphic design, is inspired by her passion and affinity for her rich Puerto Rican history.

Her works have been shown at the Lehman College Faculty Exhibit, Bronx, NY (2010, 2008, 2007); Borimix Puerto Rico Fest, CSV Cultural & Educational Center New York, NY (2009); The 11th Annual Art Show at Hudson View Gardens, New York, NY (2009); GE’s 5th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibition, General Electric, Fairfield, CT (2011); Women in U.S. Historical Movements “Our History Is Our Strength;” and Hispanic/Latino: Thriving through the Art at The Hall of Fame Art Gallery, Bronx, NY (2014).

Livia, who was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and lives in The Bronx, is an alumna of Lehman College of The City University of New York in The Bronx. For the past 13 years, she has taught Computer Imaging for the Web at Lehman College and is a graphic artist and web developer for the Central Office of CUNY.

She also is an avid crochet artist and percussionist, beating her soul-filled drum with “Bombaworks,” a group of students at El Fogon Center for the Arts who are dedicated to learning and performing the Puerto Rican folkloric dance and music known as “Bomba” and “Plena.”

One of Livia’s goals is to use her culturally oriented creations as an educational tool to help highlight community social issues via visual representations.
