Artist Bio

Lenny Achan was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1976. He is an artist, inventor and entrepreneur who combines all of the experiences of his highly matrixed life into works of art. His style has been shaped by growing up in NYC as a street artist in the early 1990’s although he has only recently begun to translate his thoughts into sculptures and onto canvas. He has been influenced by current artists like Luis Zimad Lamboy, a long time mentor and friend. His stencil influence stems from admiration of Blek Le Rat who he sees as an originator and innovator within the stenciling movement. He has also admired and studied the technical skill and discipline of Irving Amen and is also a long time collector of his artwork, which along with Achan’s affinity for spray paint (which stems from his earlier days as a graffiti artist) has impressed upon his use of bold coloring with heavy defined lines seen in many of his series e.g. Landscapes 2015.

While Achan is self-taught with no formal art training, he has educated himself outside of the traditional art world to enhance and influence his thinking. He then translates his exposure of the real world into artistic works and inventions. His philosophy of art (as the world’s most free form of communication) has been heavily influenced through studying and experiencing global disruption of various industries including the business, healthcare and political disciplines. He believes art in all forms is a powerful vehicle for disruptive innovation and plants seeds for the positive change of mental models in the world.

Achan’s work can be found in a myriad of private art collections at this time both in the United States and abroad while he continues to build his works in his studio in the Bronx, New York after many years of building up his professional portfolio outside of the art world.
