I am a self-taught photographer from Missouri, and currently reside in New York City. My focus is currently on event and performance photography, because I am interested in exploring the liminal space created at events. I work to make ethnographic photos that are simple, beautiful, and arresting. Ideally my photos evoke the ephemeral feeling of the viewer in the moment the photo was taken. I was a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic from 2005 to 2007 and studied Anthropology and Spanish at the University of California, Santa Barbara (2004), and Applied Anthropology at Teachers College, Columbia University (MA, 2010).
